Most facility managers have asked their cleaner at some point: "How do I know the cleaning actually happened?" The honest answer with most providers is "trust us." That answer doesn't hold up at the audit cycle and doesn't hold up at the procurement review.

Boomerang is QCC's proprietary cleaning operations platform. It's the operational answer to "how do I know." Every cleaning visit across QCC's 2,000+ Australian sites logs in Boomerang in real time with geofenced sign-in, photo-ID verification, photo-verified task completion, ATP scoring where contracted, issue tracking, and audit-pack export.

This article walks through what Boomerang captures on a typical visit, how facility managers use the client portal, and what makes Boomerang different from generic workforce-management tools other cleaners might run.

§ 01

The seven evidence items per visit

Every QCC visit produces seven evidence items in Boomerang — all visible in the client portal in real time.

  1. 01Geofenced sign-in timestamp · cleaner's GPS validated against the site's geo-coordinates, no off-site sign-in possible
  2. 02Photo-ID verification · cleaner identity confirmed against the QCC employee record, no anonymous substitutions
  3. 03Task list completion · each task on the site's Field Operations Manual checked off with timestamp
  4. 04Photo evidence per high-visibility zone · before-and-after photos for lobbies, lifts, restrooms, gym/pool, F&B zones
  5. 05ATP test results (where contracted) · numerical cleanliness scores per touchpoint, threshold-driven remediation
  6. 06Issue and incident logs · spills, breakages, missing supplies, security observations — raised, categorised, tracked to resolution
  7. 07Sign-out timestamp · cleaner exit confirmed, total time on site logged, audit trail closes the visit
§ 02

Geofenced sign-in · proving the cleaner arrived

When a QCC cleaner arrives at your site, they open the Boomerang field app on their phone and tap "Sign in." The app validates their GPS location against the site's geo-coordinates (a 50–150 metre radius depending on site size and signal). Sign-in only succeeds inside the geofence.

This solves the most common procurement question: "Did the cleaner actually arrive, and at the time they were supposed to?" With Boomerang, the answer is a timestamp + GPS coordinate logged at the moment of arrival. No paper sign-in sheets, no "I'm pretty sure they were there."

"Geofenced sign-in is the difference between hoping the cleaner showed up and knowing — with GPS-verified proof in your portal inside seconds."

§ 03

Photo-ID verification · proving who arrived

Standard sign-in confirms someone was at your site. Photo-ID verification confirms it was the right person — the QCC employee assigned to your site, not a substitute. The cleaner's photo-ID is captured at sign-in (or matched against the QCC employee record) and displayed in your portal alongside their name and Cert III qualification status.

For sensitive contexts (healthcare with WWVP requirements, schools with WWC requirements, defence-adjacent with AGSVA awareness), the photo-ID verification proves not just identity but also that the cleaner's vetting checks are current. Currency dates display in the portal.

§ 04

Photo-verified task completion · proving what was done

Cleaners using the Boomerang mobile app capture before-and-after photos of high-visibility zones during the visit. Photos are timestamped, GPS-tagged, and uploaded to your portal in real time.

The goal isn't to photograph everything — it's to give the facility manager defensible evidence for the spaces that matter most. Photos serve three purposes: confirm the work happened, document any pre-existing damage or issues, and provide audit evidence for compliance reviews.

§ 05

ATP testing integration · proving how clean

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) testing measures organic residue on a cleaned surface and produces a numerical "cleanliness" score. Lower scores mean cleaner surfaces. It's the closest thing to objective verification of cleaning quality available.

For contracts that include ATP (healthcare, aged care, childcare, food-grade, food-service), Boomerang integrates the test data directly. Touchpoints are mapped during onboarding (30–80 per facility). Cleaners run swabs on a documented schedule. Scores log into the portal in real time. Threshold-driven remediation triggers automatically when scores exceed agreed limits.

Most cleaning competitors don't include ATP as standard — they treat it as a premium add-on. The handful that do don't surface results in a client portal. Boomerang does both.

§ 06

Issue tracking · proving problems get resolved

When a cleaner spots an issue during a visit — a broken fixture, a spill needing follow-up, a missing supply, a security observation, a damaged door — they raise it in Boomerang on the spot. The issue routes through QCC's operations team, gets categorised (cleaning-scope, maintenance-referral, security, supply-chain), and tracked to resolution. The facility manager sees the issue in real time, the action taken, and the resolution timestamp.

§ 07

Audit-pack export · proving compliance

When your auditor asks, Boomerang exports the evidence pack in seconds. ISO 9001 / 45001 / 14001 audits: visit logs, training records, JSA/SWMS exports, environmental compliance. NSQHS Standard 3 audits: cleaning schedules, ATP scores, training currency, outbreak-response records. NQF Quality Area 3 assessments: toy sanitisation cadence, cleaning records, hygiene-zone protocols. Aged Care Quality Standard 5 reviews: cleaning evidence, dignity-protocol training, infection control. Internal corporate procurement audits: visit history, attendance, performance KPIs, issue resolution.

Export formats: PDF, CSV, Excel. Custom date ranges. Multi-site portfolio rollups for clients with 5–500+ sites.

Conclusion

Boomerang is the operational answer to "how do I know the cleaning is happening." Geofenced sign-in, photo-ID verification, photo-verified task completion, ATP scoring, issue tracking, audit-pack export — all running on every QCC contract by default, not as a premium tier.

Frequently asked

Common questions on this topic

Q · 01Is Boomerang available to clients on every QCC contract?
Yes. Boomerang runs on every QCC contract by default. Not a premium tier, not an upsell. The platform is the operating layer of QCC's cleaning service, not a separate SaaS product.
Q · 02Can my whole team see Boomerang or just me?
Role-based access. Building managers see their building. Facility leads see their portfolio. Body corporate committee chairs see their building plus shared committee notes. Corporate procurement teams see the full account. Internal auditors get read-only audit-pack access during review windows.
Q · 03Does Boomerang work on mobile?
Yes. The client portal is browser-based and optimised for desktop, tablet, and phone. The Boomerang field app for cleaners is available on the App Store and Google Play (iOS and Android).
Q · 04How is Boomerang data secured?
Encrypted infrastructure with role-based access controls, audit logging, and data-protection-aware design. NDA-bound for finance sector and defence-adjacent contracts. Retention: visit logs and photo evidence retained for the duration of the contract plus retention periods required by relevant compliance frameworks (typically 7 years).
Q · 05Can Boomerang integrate with our existing systems?
We can discuss API integration with client procurement and facility-management systems on a case-by-case basis. Standard exports (PDF, CSV, Excel) cover most use cases without integration work.
